Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Vents! We’ve been excellent! Thank you so much for having us, we really appreciate the Questions!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Wildfire”?

“Wildfire” was easily the funnest track to write off our new EP. We set no boundries on ourselves when it came to sound & concepts of the track. I wanted to write and create something fun and upbeat that someone can just blast with the windows down.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

No event in particular. Got inspired by the 50 Shades Of Grey Concept & ran with it. I wanted to write something sexy and  fun.  Something fans can listen to and be like “that was hot”, haha.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

For “Wildfire” I’d love to. I’ve got so many sweet ideas that would be awesome to film. Right now our next music video is going to be for “Say What You Want From Me” but I’m sure later on we’ll film something for “Wildfire”.

The single comes off your new album Beautiful Mess – what’s the story behind the title?

Early on I knew the EP had songs with all different sounds and styles. Instead of trying to stick to a certain sound, we just wrote a ton of them and picked our top 6 for the ep. Thinking of a title was simple. I embraced that we had 6 songs with that all sounded different. Which to me was a “Beautiful Mess”.. in a good way of course.

How was the recording and writing process?

Recording process was a blast. We got to fly out to LA and Boston to get these songs done. When in LA, we slept on John & Morgan’s couch for a week. We would wake up, go for a hike, get back and literally spend the whole day writing and recording. Including the 2 boston trips, we got about 9-10 songs done.

What was it like to work with John Keefe and Morgan Dorr? How did those relationships develop?

John and morgan are extremely talented guys. It was inspiring to learn and watch how they work. It inspired me to keep a insane work ethic. As crazy as it sounds, Boys Like Girls had a show in 2012 in my hometown, I was a huge fan and a couple hours before show time my younger brother (Hector), who wasn’t in the band yet showed up to the venue early to try to meet them. Luckily he did, and my mom gave them a copy of our first ep “all I need”.. two weeks later I got a DM on twitter from morgan “Lets work” and the rest is history!

How much did they get to influence the album?

As producers, they have a great ear for music especially for the pop/alternative sound we got. Morgan played a big role in crafting the music and production around my vocals and lyrics. We wouldn’t have had  amazing production on this EP if morgan hadn’t brought the ideas to life.

Does Texas plays a role in your music?

Absolutely. Especially our hometown edinburg,tx. We’re extremely proud of we’re were from and rep our city every chance we get.

What films get to influence the music on this record?

I’d say 50 shades on Wildfire for sure but overall I’d say any films in 2015/16 with a great soundtrack. My goal is to hopefully land a movie sync. I can definitely hear it with any of our songs on the EP.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yes, hopefully after the EP is released, we’ll have a fall tour set up.

What else is happening next in Mayberry’s world?

July 22 our EP “Beautiful Mess” drops and I couldn’t be more excited to let the fans listen. The rest of the year will be filled with more shows, more recording and more new music! To stay up to date to see whats happening next, you’re gonna have to follow us on instagram, facebook and twitter @mayberryband & expect a ton of new videos up on

Thanks so much for the interview! Much love.
