Home / Music / Artist Interviews / INTERVIEW: Georgie K

Hi Georgie, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Great thank you! Keeping busy and enjoying the summer!

How did you get to fall in love with music?

I have always loved music, all different genres but I realised this even more so when I moved to Manchester on my own around the age of 18.

Each night I would go through different music sites and listen to new genres, new tracks and artists. I realised I needed to be in this industry, the music changed my mood and only created positives!

What led you to become a DJ?

I lived alone, loved music and often thought how amazing it would be to control a crowd, and see them enjoy the music you love yourself!

I went to a music college once a week and studied music and the art of being a DJ. I then discovered how special and interesting the skill was and decided to contact local DJ’s for more information and advice!

From all the genres, why did you choose playing R&B and Hip Hop?

To me it has so much soul behind it! The history ranges back years and the beauty is that old and new r&b/hip hop is all relevant.

R&B/hip hop is raw music and can range from freestyles to intricate beat making. It’s feel good music and gets the crowd excited.

How’s usually your recording process?

It’s pretty relaxed to be honest!

I record all my mixes live at home (no editing). I have my friends round and mix my new (or old) favourite tracks and just have fun. I love to DJ and recording is a great opportunity for me to practice and provide new mixes for everybody to enjoy!

Any plans to hit the road?

This is something I would love to do and definitely plan to do!

Nothing set up as of yet, but keep your eyes peeled!

What else is happening next in Georgie K’s world?

I am DJing at my first international gig in Malta at the end of the month (Malta Connect). It’s a 4 day party, I’m DJing on boats/beaches/at pool parties. Something super exciting for me!

Other than that, I have new mixes coming up, my weekly show continues at Unity Radio, gigs, I’ll be linking up with some pretty cool international DJ’s and a few other exciting things! Keep a check on my Twitter for all info @djgeorgiek .
