New Portals release ‘VCR & Chill’ EP feat. The Jepettos‏

New Portals have collaborated with The Jepettos to release the VCR & Chill EP, a selection of New Portals songs reworked by the beautiful alt-folk of The Jepettos. The EP launched today on 1883 Magazine.

Lead track, and New Portals’ latest single, ‘Stay Here Tonight’ sees The Jepettos turn the ravey lovelorn tale into a sparse acoustic arrangement of haunting Americana.

Elsewhere on VCR & Chill, previous highly acclaimed single ‘Groove Boy’ is transformed with a glistening folk chime while new songs ‘Stereo’ and ‘Inch’ are rich in Deep South influence.

Mike and Ruth Aicken enjoyed great success with The Jepettos as their previous alt-folk project, clocking up over 11 MILLION streams on Spotify and playing in support of the Foo Fighters, The Black Keys and Tinie Tempah.

Now breaking out from Ireland as one of the most hotly tipped new artists, New Portals have achieved Radio 1 support from Phil Taggart with ‘Stay Here Tonight’, alongside Huw Stephens who has championed their previous singles. New Portals have also been touted as The Guardian’s ‘New Band Of The Week’ among a wealth of further praise.

New Portals have been announced for a very rare and special London live show, taking place at Cargo, Shoreditch on June 22nd where they will play in support of Youth Club in association with 1883 Magazine. Before this the band will also be playing a hometown show at The MAC, Belfast on June 11th.
