Hi King, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Yo Waguan! Thanks for having me. I’m awesome.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Thank God”?
Yeah. It’s my new single I just dropped about a month ago. It features Fuse Odg and was produced by Killbeatz. It’s an afrobeats record with a great message to it.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
Not necessarily, it was just a vibe we caught whilst working . At first when I started writing, it was a song about a girl & then Killbeatz came up with the brilliant idea of “Thank God” and that was it. We both loved the idea and wrote to it. Everything I wrote is real life vibes though.
How was the film experience?
It was great & hectic. We shot in a day so we shot for hours non stop. It started as early as 10am & finished at about 3-4 am . But yeah it was an amazing experience.
How was the recording and writing process?
That went smooth as well. You know, working with Killbeatz , he makes everything easy and has an amazing personality and great positive vibes, he made it fun.
What was it like to work with Fuse Odg and Killbeatz? How did those relationships develop?
Like I said earlier, Killbeatz is a legend at this and has awesome vibes making everything just smooth and fun . He actually played the song for Fuse to hear and was impressed and did a verse even without us meeting in person till it was time for the video shoot. He’s a great guy too you know. Super huge star, but he’s very down to earth and loves the song like I do, so everything was just great vibes.
How much did they get to influence the album?
Killbeat is the main producer behind the album . When it comes to direction and all, we plan together as a team with my boss Yas. So they’ve been pivotal and I’m really excited about what we have coming up. Very excited & can’t wait to share with the world.
Does Ghana plays a role in your music?
Of course. It’s where I’m from and being accepted by my people is great. I do this because I want to take my people to the world. Ghana to the world and beyond. I was born and bread in Ghana so my influences and even how I go about my music process and all of that is all vibes from Ghana. They are supporting me and what I’m doing. We can only get better. Ghana is blessing to me.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Yeah. It’s actually done. Two new songs I should say are actually ready to come as next singles and get ready to dance and enjoy some great stuff is all I can say.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
No date has been set yet but I can say very very soon my next single should be out.
Any plans to hit the road?
Yeah of course. One thing about me is that I love performing. Be it with a live band or with a Dj, the stage is where I come alive. The chance to share my music with the people one on one is something I cherish. Already started playing shows in Ghana and looking forward to take it beyond Ghana in due time.
What else is happening next in King Promise’s world?
In my world. Hmmm let’s see. Well apart from music which is basically my world, I’m in my last year at university pursuing a bachelors degree of science in business administration, majoring in marketing.
