PREMIERE: Rene Lopez Release New Single “Run Run Baby”

Straying away from his typical Latin infused music for a complex, R&B sound reminiscent of Prince, Rene Lopez is teaming up with VENTS today for the premiere of his latest single “Run Run Baby” off his Jam of the Month series.

You may know of this native New Yorker from his early days as the lead singer for The Authority, where he packed clubs like The Wetlands, New Music Café and Nightingale Bar for years with a blend of Latin Soul, Funk and Jam. Alongside P-Funk and Fishbone, He later formed the band Wasabi with John Popper of Blues Traveler and Extra Virgin before going out on his own.

Rene inherited a rich modern Latin music tradition from his father (renowned salsa musician Rene Lopez, Sr., who played trumpet during the heyday of Fania Records with the Ray Barretto Orchestra and Típica 73, bands beloved by New York’s Latin community. Over the past 20 years he has built a legacy on his own terms, earning accolades from jam band fanatics and hip-hop heads.
