Cymbal, the internet’s most influential music community, is thrilled to announce they have opened the beta of their Android app today. Cymbal launched just a year ago and has rapidly expanded their usership globally, welcomed pop stars, indie bands, legendary labels, buzzy blogs and probably most of your friends. Working with Google, Cymbal is finally making its highly awaited jump from iPhone-only to Android-friendly as part of this year’s I/O conference which features a collection of the best new apps that are not out yet. Cymbal has been vetted at the highest level and on the biggest stage.
Cymbal’s new Android app is a preview of the next steps they are taking in creating powerful, listenable communities – the first time the mix of music you listen to will come from people like you, either individuals or communities, not algorithms. Linked with Spotify and Soundcloud, Cymbal members are easily able to share their favorite tunes within the app’s community that is made up of artists from Pusha T to Frankie Cosmos to Hailee Steinfeld, tastemakers from Pitchfork’s Ryan Dombal to blogs like Tiny Mix Tapes and from Def Jam to Epitaph Records. From indie to superstar, from metal to pop – with Cymbal each member is enabled to be their own influencer.
