Hi Sarah, welcome to VENTS! How have you been? Hi! I’ve been great. These past few weeks I’ve been a bit nervous about the release of the single. But now everything’s cool.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Sleep”? It’s a song than contains a bit of everything I like. Sadness, love, country and ambience.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song? I wrote it last summer. It became sort of a summation of a forbidden love. It was a stressful and chaotic time.
Any plans to release a video for the single? Yes! Actually the video is already finished. It is produced and filmed by Per-Henrik Maenpaa and it will be released by the end of May. I’m so excited.
How was the recording and writing process? My producer, Anna Hansen, and me started working on it about 6 month ago. At first it was only guitar and organs but we wanted to make it more powerful so we added drums and created fuller sound atmosphere. It was kind of a slow process because we used a lot of different studios and musicians. But I’m glad we took all the time we needed cuz the end result is exactly what we wanted and planned for.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along? This summer is mainly focused on playing live but I will start working on stuff hopefully this fall. My plan is to release an EP and later hopefully a full album. I’m always writing on new stuff.
Any tentative release date or title in mind? No, not yet.
What role does the 80s plays in your music? Heartache was a serious business back in the 80s. I can fully relate to that. I like the fact that you were allowed to be real sand and cheesy but still be cool.
Would all songs deal with love, grief and euphoria? Yes. I’m all about that stuff. True feelings man.
Any plans to hit the road? That’s the dream. I’ve never been out for a longer tour. So… If there is any band out there who wants a cool woman in a fancy dress as supporting act, please give me a call.
What else is happening next in Sarah Klang’s world? I’m going to enjoy the summer. Hopefully play a lot. Rehearse with my keyboardist Jens Randrup. And wait fort that special call.
