INTERVIEW: Bruce Mountain Band

Hi Tyson, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Doing great. We just finished this amazing recording and are excited to share it with the world.

Can you talk to us more about your single “Feel It Too”?

Right on, Feel it to is one of my favorite songs on the album

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

No events in particular. Feel it too is about when you know when you click with someone and you can feel it and you know they feel it too.

This was a song we wrote in about 10 minutes. One night we were getting ready to start rehearsal and while we were warming up out of nowhere the main guitar riff came up we all knew instantly we were on to something. PC started to freestyle some lyrics and signaling when it was time for the chorus which now opened the door for Ruben to come in with one of his signature leads. After that we just had to do a little fine tuning. When we are together we feel what the next guy is going to do so it makes it easy

Any plans to release a video for this or any other song on the record?

We have a couple songs in mind we would like to shoot a video for. Feel it too, shine on shining on, thank you, crossroads and fireball. We feel these songs show our versatility as a band and are great stories to tell. Hopefully sooner than later

The single comes off your new album Another Day Lost – what’s the story behind the title?

Another day lost is from the song Shine on Shining on “Living on borrowed time another day lost as we sit and watch the son that shines” a song about the last days of Tysons Father who only had some much time left on this planet. Which means live your life in the moment,  enjoy life while you can,  at the end of the day you cant take it back and you never know what tomorrow will bring.

How was the recording and writing process?

We all are long time friends that have been trying to put this project together for some time now and In 2014 all the stars aligned just right. All of us are songwriters so when we got together we had about 40 songs to choose from. The next task was to decide what songs would make a great double vinyl Rock and Roll album so we narrowed it down to 16.

What was it like to work with Rob Walker and how did that relationship develop?

We all played in various projects while Rob was in Wish For Eden and had a lot of respect their music, after they broke up he played in a band with PC called Still Dreadful and we all knew each other from the local Riverside music scene. We all became close friends throughout the years.

How much did he get to influence the album?

Greatly, He knew the sounds we were trying to get, so him and Bob Moon would spend hours getting it just right. When it came to vocals he had a vision on how they all should be done to complement the song.

What role does the Rocky environment plays in your music?

Bruce Mountain is the name of our studio it’s a place for everyone to get together and Rock out. The studio is on top of a small hill that backs up to a rock quarry and is built on a actual foundation of ROCK. When the music comes out its as big as a mountain

What life experiences get to inspire the songs and lyrics?

All of our songs are about life experiences in some way Some are personal experiences and some are looking at other peoples situations going on.

Any plans to hit the road?

Hopefully soon. The road is tough, we are such a new band and are still trying to establish our fan base. Right now only locally (SO. California) we would like to play some festivals where we can a chance for a larger crowd to hear us. In the meantime we will continue with promoting the new album.

What else is happening next in Bruce Mountain Band’s world?

We are just focusing on getting our music out there, Continue writing for the next album and keep on Rocking.
