ALBERTA CROSS set to open for Joe Walsh + Bad Company‏

Today, Alberta Cross – led by lead singer and guitarist Petter Ericson Stakee – announced additional tour dates as they wrap the first leg of their North American tour. The band began the trek with three shows in Toronto, with tour dates in Chicago, Minneapolis, Winnipeg, Sakatoon, Calgary, Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, tonight in San Francisco and which wraps in Los Angeles tomorrow night at The Satellite.

“The tour has been grand so far. It feels nice to be out in North America touring this record with a 6 piece band, ” reflected Stakee,  “It’s nice to have 2 horn players every night. We’ve also played some places in Canada that I’ve never been to before. Hope to see y’all out there on the long road . Come check out a show while I’ve got this amazing big band every night. It has made this tour pretty special.”

About supporting Joe Walsh Petter said, “We’re very excited to get asked to open up for Mr. Joe Walsh. I just saw him play when Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys brought him out on stage for a long jams at Coachella this year. Legend!”

The headline tour is in support of their current, acclaimed self-titled album (out now on Dine Alone Records), which was co-produced by Stakee and Claudius Mittendorfer (TemplesInterpolJohnny Marr). The LP captures new sonic elements for Alberta Cross. For the first time Stakee orchestrated and recorded broadening brass and string sections that were weaved throughout the 12-track offering, which help to beautifully capture the band’s timeless, alt-folk sound that is all their own.  “On this record, we have all these new colors,” Stakee continues. “It felt pretty amazing. It was very loose, not a lot of structure. I wanted to keep that vibe-the looseness and the soul. Mandolin, violin, French horn, flugelhorn, trumpet-we put those on a lot of tracks. That was a new thing for me and very inspiring. This record seems so… pure to me.” NPR, New York Times, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, Paste and more have all highly-praise Stakee on the new musical direction.
