LEYYA Release New Music Video For “Butter”‏

After an extraordinary year of touring and an ever growing amount of attention, LEYYA are bacck with a spectacular video for their stunning new track, “Butter”.

For the film, band and crew travelled to Zadar (Croatia) this March. Regardless the summery look of the video, temperatures were actually quite calm. Especially the scenes in the water asked for Sophies courage – the LEYYA singer had to jump into 10°C seawater for the videos opening scene. The result, however, is rewarding.

The same goes for the driving scenes, for which the team got help from two Croatian stunt drivers, Bruno Negovec and Borna Vajdic. Along with their classic, bright orange Toyota from the 80s, the respective scenes underline the videos powerful imagery and sense for colour.

Director Martina Trepczyk (who studied film in London and now resides in Vienna) explains her vision for the film:
“For Butter, I worked entirely on visual concepts, rather than writing a narrative storyline. Based on vast, complementary colours, elements of nature and power dynamics I tried to create scenarios that strengthen the track just as the music strengthens the visuals. Overcoming physical obstacles was paramount for the characters.”

Trepczyk was accompanied by Cameraman Gabriel Hyden, who worked with Leyya before (on their magnificent works “Superego” and “Wolves”). “Butter” is out on Las Vegas Records and will be featured on the bands debut album “Spanish Disco” (set for release May 20th). Celebrating its release, the band will play several dates in the UK, including Brightons THE GREAT ESCAPE Festival (Friday 20 May, 21:00h, The Hub) and LIVERPOOL SOUND CITY (Saturday 28 May).

The Austrian bands rise happened surprisingly and quick. It started with their very first release at the end of 2014, “Drowning In Youth”, that made waves among the austrian scene first. It was followed by the amazing “Wolves” and an EP, before “Superego” eventually made them a recognizable name way outside their home, too.

The track gathered close to 1 Million Plays on Spotify and more than 200.000 Youtube-Plays, got support and was applauded by a number of prominent Radio DJs such as Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1, Lauren Laverne on BBC6 and John Kennedy on XFM. It went Top 3 on Germans College Radio Charts, gained airplay all across Europe and was featured in several Advertisement Campaigns.

LEYYA were invited to support Canadian band METRIC on their European Tour later that year and established themselves as a great live band at industry events like Reeperbahn Festival (Hamburg, DE) and Eurosonic Festival (Groningen, NL) – where their show eventually was called “the best concert of the festival” by Germans Musikexpress.

The band continues to tour throughout this year, starting with yet another highlight – Great Escape Festival in Brighton.

Right after its release, “Butter” is currently holding #2 both on German College Radio Charts as well as Austrias Radio FM4 Charts and also getting many plays in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Poland, France and other countries.

“Butter” is out on Las Vegas Records (Distribution: Universal Music),
“Spanish Disco – Deluxe Version” is set for release May 20th.
