Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Sky”?
Well it originally stems through the emotional strife, story between Eric (guitarist), and a sultry little fox.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
The songs lyrics are written in two parts. Part one being when this love affair was flourishing, and part two, is falling out of love and discovering who the counterpart really is.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
No not for “Sky”, but keep your ear to the ground we might have something entirely new for you guys.
The single comes off your new album Tasty – what’s the story behind the title?
You know that part in a solo that makes you just go “ooo”, and just has you revel in how juicy it sounds? That’s what it’s about. When the music is just so tasty.
How was the recording and writing process?
Writing with the band is marvelous. The best part is when the groove finally comes together, and the ‘sound’ in our heads comes alive. That’s when the band stops playing, and just starts screaming “that’s it that’s the sound thats it!!!”. Recording for us can be a grind to find out what’s the best way to capture this feeling the right way. It isn’t just about getting the instruments recorded; its about capturing a moment that oozes emotion.
Does Orlando, FL play a role in your music?
We would like to say no, but that would just be a lie. We are a product of our environment just as anything else is in this world. So it affects us in ways we probably don’t even recognize. The music scene here is really diverse and we’re influenced by our fans, the people we meet and by the music around us.How much did food get to inspire the songs and lyrics on this record?Actually little to none. The songs pertain to adventure, love, the self, and one’s shortcomings.Any plans to hit the road?Yes actually we are currently booking our summer tour that begins mid July. In the meantime we will be traveling to Alabama, and northern cities in Florida. What else is happening next in Sweet Cambodia’s world? We are going to be putting our fresh content, in different forms of media. Starting with pictures and merch, releasing Tasty of course and eventually diverse video content. We’re booked to do a festival called Timbuktu in Alabama that we are going to be performing at. It’s going to be an absolute pleasure to get to experience the deep South of the US as we begin to branch out.
