Laura Gibson, whose newest album Empire Builder was released last month, is happy to share two sessions she recently taped. Empire Builder is named for the Amtrak route Laura Gibson took while moving from Portland, Oregon to New York City and during a recent trip home to Portland, Gibson took Oregon Public Radio to the inspiration for her album title – Amtrak’s Empire Builder train – where they shot her playing the album’s title track. Watch that session here. This Spring Paste Magazine invited Laura into their NYC studios where they captured her playing “Not Harmless,” “Empire Builder” and “Damn Sure.” You can watch the session here.
Gibson has been touring the US since the release of Empire Builder including a sold-out show at NYC’s Joe’s Pub. She will continue to put miles on the tour van with a string of US solo shows this June with David Bazan. Laura has also just confirmed a run of full-band headlining dates on the West Coast this summer, kicking off July 20 at Los Angeles‘ Bootleg Theater. Additionally Gibson is confirmed to play the Capitol Hill Block Party in July and England’s End of the Road Festival in September.
