Award-winning Australian five-piece The Rubens have released their song ‘Hold Me Back’ as a free download to celebrate having sold out their debut London headline show at The Dome, London on May 26th.
‘Hold Me Back’ leads with dancing piano keys, before a wall of brass pulsates behind the sing-along chorus of, “Hold me back, tell me how to live my life/Got no self control, Lord help me,” as the song finds The Rubens beaming an alt-rock swagger of deserved self-assurance.
The song is the latest to be taken from The Rubens’ upcoming UK debut album Hoops, due for release on May 20th through Warner Bros. Records (pre-order on iTunes here).
Hoops entered Australia’s ARIA Album chart at No.2 and topped the iTunes Alternative Chart with its 11-tracks of soulful blues and feel-good indie-rock anthems. The critically acclaimed, platinum-selling album was recorded in New York and produced by the Grammy Award winning David Kahne (Lana Del Rey, The Strokes) and mixed by legendary producer Michael Brauer (Coldplay).
The album’s title track was voted No.1 in the Triple J Hottest 100 Chart beating the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Tame Impala and The Weeknd, and has since gone on to receive a Platinum certification. It has also recently been nominated for the APRA ‘Rock Song Of The Year’ Award.
The band has also started making a big impact on the UK and have sold-out their very first London headline show at The Dome, Tufnell Park on May 26th – following a venue upgrade from Boston Music Rooms, which they sold out within an hour of tickets going on sale.
The Rubens will also be playing The Great Escape Festival, and have just been announced for Dot To Dot Festival.
