Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hi! We are happy to be here.  We’ve been great, keeping very busy.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Warfare”?

Of course.  Warfare was a song that came together very organically and naturally.  Leah brought it to the band and we all fell into our parts quite quickly and easily.  It was written to come across strongly live and to be an attention grabber.  We wanted to have a song that had a very dark, heavy riff to contrast and compliment Leah’s voice.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

Warfare was written by Leah and inspired by the 80’s Goth and New Wave scenes. She was inspired lyrically by Nick Cave’s work with his band the Birthday Party.

How was the film experience?

Very quick!  We did the video (shooting and editing) in a total of 16 hours!  Leah and John did the video with the help of Leah’s boyfriend, Austin Camp.  It was very fast paced, but we like things that way.  It was an all around very creative and fun process.  We wanted a dark video that evoked the same deadly energy that the song does.  We wanted mystery and I think we achieved that with sharp contrast and shadows.

How was the recording and writing process?

Well, like we said, the song came together very naturally and organically and the recording process was the same way.  Because the song was written to be an attention grabbing live track we wanted to make sure that we captured that vibe in the recording.  A lot of reverb did that for us, I think! Haha.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes, definitely! We are going to be recording our second record this summer.  We are really excited to share our new sounds with everyone because we feel that we are really coming into our own sound.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

No title in mind, yet, but you can expect to see our new record released sometime this fall.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yes!  We are working on getting some dates together for the summer.  We will probably stay closer to Texas this year, but you never know what might happen.

What else is happening next in Moon Waves’ world?

We are extremely excited about our upcoming dates in Dallas.  We have some big show announcements coming up so please be sure to follow us on Facebook to stay up to date.
