NYC-based R&B artist, Manny, announces the release of his debut EP, The Prequel. This project serves as the introduction to Manny’s professional projects, each piece offering an intimate look into his story. The lyric video for “Out My Way,” The Prequel’s lead single, has garnered over 20,000 views on YouTube since its release earlier this year. LISTEN HERE
First generation American, born in Massachusetts, Manny discovered his passion for music early on. He began penning lyrics in his free time at the age of 12. By age 14, Manny began to teach himself to play the piano, program beats and record full-length songs on his computer. While studying at Salem State University at age 17, Manny began honing his vocals skills. Around that time the budding musician joined the university’s chorus, started vocal lessons and officially took on his stage name, “Manny.” After graduation he settled in both Miami and Los Angeles before touching down in New York to dive head first into his professional music career.
The Prequel ultimately aims to tell Manny’s story. Mixing the project using the speakers of his friend’s car, Manny’s DIY style is evident in every track. The standout single “Out My Way” has been a particularly emotional song for many of Manny’s listeners. “[Out My Way] has been a blessing for myself and for my fans,” said Manny. “I’ve had numerous women contact me after they’ve heard the song thanking me. Telling me that I helped them through abusive and terrible relationships with that song and that it means so much to them.” It’s the emotion and passion that Manny pours into every note that sets him apart from the crowd.
