INTERVIEW: Lena Fayre

Answered by Chelsea McCarthy on behalf of Lena Fayre

How would you classify your music?

Lena’s sound is constantly in flux and doesn’t fit a classification at this point.

Who are some of your top 5 musical influences?

Growing up, Lena was introduced to the sounds of David Bowie, The Cure and Elvis Presley. Although not in the same vein of her songwriting, these people are major influences to Lena in a number of ways.

What do you want fans to take from your music?

An experience, a connection–to something known or unknown.

Tell us about your latest release?

Lena’s newest release is titled, “Cry” A cinematic performance music video accompanies the songs release.

What do you love and hate about the Music Business in your opinion?

Assuming the music industry is similar to most other business professions, there are always pros and cons. One of which being the individuals who control the industry, aged white men.

What is the best concert you have been to? What do you like most about playing live?

I am not sure what Lena’s favorite live show is… playing live is exciting and challenging, lots of opportunity for pleasure and failure.

How have you evolved as an artist or band over the last year?

Lena began playing with a live band for the first time which provides a larger sound and visually changes up the live shows. There have been personal triumphs which will reveal themselves in her forthcoming songs.

Artist dead or alive?

I think it would be humorous and weird if Elvis Presley covered a Lena Fayre song.

What is next?

Continuing to work in the studio, develop and widen Lena’s local audience, hopefully have some exciting content to release in the Fall.
