Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Too Fast”?
“Too Fast” is an easy-going love poem to make you feel good on your journey away from home and beyond…reminding people to stay in the present moment.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
Moving to the East Coast. Traveling in general. Feeling the different vibrations in new places while holding on to my California spirit.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Hell yea. Somewhere tropical.
The single comes off your new EP The Lucid Realm – what’s the story behind the title?
The Lucid Realm is a place you can go to dream and create your own reality. Do anything you imagine with heightened senses and no limitations.
How was the recording and writing process?
The recording process was very non-traditional – mostly written freestyle based on feelings and subconscious flow-type writing.
What was it like to work with Chayse Walker and how did that relationship develop?
Chayse is hella talented and precise. It’s interesting to see how someone can grow to understand your sound and create melodies based off the vibe you put out there. One of my best friends back in school introduced me to him and we started jamming in the studio. I would just freestyle and he would sample my voice and create a beat out of it and thats how the creative process started for this project.
How much did he get to influence the EP?
It was truly a collaborative effort. I was always present while he was building beats and melodies. We created our own sound over time.
What role does Brooklyn plays in your music?
Brooklyn plays a huge role in this project being that we recording the whole EP here. I’ve also always been inspired by the people I’ve met who are born and raised here. Shouts out to the underground psych rappers.
Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
The Sky. Everywhere!
Any plans to hit the road?
Hell Yea. I’ll be taking a lot of trips – hopefully overseas!
What else is happening next in Jazmin LaBrie’s world?
Lots of live beach parties and bonfires and jamming of course! Definitely ready for summer 🙂
