INTERVIEW: Dope Fantasy

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

We’ve been doing great just progressing and preparing to release our latest project.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Pressure”?

Pressure is a song that we’ve been sitting on for a while and we felt that it was the right time. We wanted to have a follow up song to a song we have entitled Real Hip Hop that also touches on a variety of issues and pressure hit the nail on the head.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

The social issues in Chicago and across the country. Everything happening can be sensitive subjects and we wanted to give a real heartfelt experience from our perspectives and say what some people are afraid to say.

How was the film experience?

It was pretty dope; this was our first time working with the Lucas Brothers. We heard  good things about them and we were excited to shoot with them.

The single comes off your new album S.L.A.M. – what’s the story behind the title?

The title for slam is Jay R’s brain child.

How was the recording and writing process?

Its always a very fun process but we usually take our time with creating new music. We try to be as creative as possible and always try to have a subject matter with every song.

What role does Chicago play in your music?

Chicago plays a huge role in what we do. From the stigma the city has to the beauty of the city that is constantly overlooked.

Would all the songs deal with social issues?

Some songs will, but we try to have a variety of vibes that apply to our everyday lives.

In what way does all your different backgrounds have influence this project?

Its just the culmination of how all of us grew up so you’re going to be able to hear things from four different perspectives.

Any plans to hit the road?

Not as of right now but we definitely will in the future.

What else is happening next in Dope Fantasy’s world?

Collaboration’s between different members in the group possible mixtapes/albums.

Watch here.
