Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Thanks! We’ve been good just making it happen

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “No Insignia”? Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

Musically speaking no. It was just time to write an album and we were aiming high with all the elements we wanted in it and it worked out. As for the lyrics, we wrote the song years ago when the invasion of Ukraine and Crimea by Russia was going on. That is DEFINITELY what inspired the song. It’s an anti-fascism song, an anti war crime song, and it’s a give ’em hell song.

How was the film experience?

It was pretty DIY. A few friends, a big warehouse. Which we are accustomed to. No crazy budget with a weirdo cokehead label dude (ahem) trying to get us to do dumb shit like drive a Bentley and dance with porn stars. Haha. It was the best for what we are about and what we do. people like it so far.

The single comes off your new album No Rest – what’s the story behind the title?

“No Rest” is an old song that Never made it to a release do to creative decisions. the lyrics of that song actually fit our view of this non stop machine that destroys this planet and gives no breaks to the innocent and to those who are chained to it. The song “No Rest” will be on an EP we plan to record and release next year.

How was the recording and writing process?

It was very easy this time.  We were very much on the same page and we are all very vocal, opinionated and particular. It was very organic as well and we went in with the same values and purpose.

What social and politics issues have inspire the songs on this record?

There’s a bit of everything on “NO REST”. To name a few — the injustices that gay and queer folks face, all around the world (Comrades). The fact that our nation’s crutch is greed and capitalism (No Headline and Suicide Nets). Fascist punks fuck off (No Insignia). How police brutality needs to end, and that people of color are hands down the ones who face it the most. It’s a tragic injustice that happens what seems to be daily (The Wires That Hang).

In what way does the new album showcase the best of the band to date?

I do feel the album is our best album. Due to writing without compromise or cheating. When something seemed difficult we didn’t take shortcuts , we faced the idea head on knowing it would be rewarding to play it and we have received compliments because of that in my opinion. And also the clean singing is more controlled and focused on the album.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yes we will be doing a lot of small regional tours around south east US.

What else is happening next in Fero Lux’s world?

Next for us is to hit the road and get on as many tours as we can. Then we will kill numerous upside down pineapple cakes and ride our Harley’s into the sunset with machetes drawn… namaste.
