Hi Sky, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Hi, I’ve been well. Thanks!
Can you talk to us more about your single “Hey Big Spender”?
Hey Big Spender is about a financially stable man who is able to wine and dine his lady. I admire that type of man because there are some men nowadays who want women to financially support them and I don’t agree with that. I don’t think chivalry is dead. I think we as women should demand it more and expect to be treated like the queens we are!
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
Yes, I dated a gentleman who wanted women to financially support him and needless to say that ended fairly quickly. I don’t necessarily expect a man to be rich but he doesn’t need to be asking me to pay for everything either. The song came out of that experience. Just me realizing what I want and deserve from a relationship.
Can we expect a new video for this single?
Yes you can expect a video for the song! Details coming soon!
What role does the 50s plays in your music?
The 50s definitely had a huge influence on the song and how it was produced. It definitely has a cross between 50s and a more contemporary sound, which is exactly what I wanted!
How was the recording and writing process?
The writing and recording process was amazing! I actually wrote the song first and then I met with my producer, Byron the Aquarius, and we picked out the instruments one by one. It was a very hands on process and was so much fun! It helped that I knew what sound I wanted.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new single how’s that coming along?
He is an amazing producer so that part was easy and I recorded it in a studio in Atlanta and they mixed it for me the same day!
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
No tentative dates yet but it’s coming!
Any plans to hit the road?
Hopefully this summer I will be opening for a major act but nothing has been confirmed yet.
What else is happening next in Sky Colette’s world?
In my world, I’m working on quite a few surprises that I believe my supporters will love and appreciate!
