NYC’s prodigious retro-future disco funk duo The Knocks are riding high on the recent release of their “55”LP (STREAM) but took the time to churn out an irresistible remix of Justin Bieber’s hit new single “Company” (STREAM), celebrating an announced pair of shows in support of global superstar Justin Bieber, taking place May 13th and 14th (in Ottawa and Quebec, respectively). The Knocks have a busy summer of festival shows slated as well, including performances at Bonnaroo, Governor’s Ball, Outside Lands and more coming soon.
The Knocks’ new album “55”is a resolutely DIY electronic album, that features star-studded vocal contributions from Alex Newell, Cam’ron, Carly Rae Jepsen, Fetty Wap, Justin Tranter, Magic Man, Matthew Koma, Phoebe Ryan, POWERS, Walk The Moon, Wyclef Jean, and X Ambassadors. The Knocks are a New York story through & through, first meeting at age 19 in a studio while attending the New School. In 2008, JPatt and B-Roc took out a loan and opened the HeavyRoc studio at 55 Chrystie, in the same broken-down building where the Beastie Boys used to rehearse. Ever since, the duo’s been working on original material and remixes for the likes of Katy Perry, Passion Pit, Ellie Goulding and Icona Pop.
