New York- and LA-based duo MS MR mesmerize with a riveting new music video for “Wrong Victory” HERE, the latest single off their sophomore album How Does It Feel.
The video displays a rotating Lizzy Plapinger (MS) and Max Hershenow (MR), disguised under numerous layers of surreal costumes and makeup, which they peel off as the song progresses, until—at last—revealing their identities as the two are left completely undressed and fully exposed. This Mafalda Millies-directed video enchants with its chilling, beautiful Matryoshka concept. MS MR on the “Wrong Victory” video:
We’ve been dreaming of this video ever since we finished writing “Wrong Victory”. The heart of the song is about the struggle and tension in attempting to escape yourself in order to find your truest self. We wanted to linger on the lyric “When your skin doesn’t feel like home” and use it as an opportunity to literally and figuratively explore the masks we wear and the layers we hide behind until we’re left to our most raw form.
MS MR are getting ready for their return to Australian shores this April / May for a national headline tour, as well as all Groovin the Moo dates across the country.
On the heels of their return to the states, MS MR will head out on the road with Bloc Party on select dates, listed below (Lizzy’s all time favorite band!).
Featuring 12 brand new ecstatic, high-octane songs, How Does It Feel finds MS MR returning to the visceral, bare-bones intimacy that launched the band just three years ago. Their 2013 debut Secondhand Rapture had been recorded for a few hundred dollars in spare rooms throughout Brooklyn. For How Does It Feel, Lizzy and Max returned to their old stomping grounds in late 2014, specifically the neighborhood of Bushwick, where they rented a small room to hammer out new material. For the first time, the duo teamed up with fellow musicians to co-write new songs—Tove Lo for the album’s “Pieces” and MNDR for “Tripolar.” MS MR’s drummer Zach Nicita also co-wrote and co-produced a handful of new tracks. How Does It Feel is available everywhere now, including iTunes and Spotify.
