“Rising from the underground” is not an unfamiliar term in the world of independent artists but when it comes to The Tailormade, they’re taking on the term literally. Having found success busking throughout the tube stations of London, they were crowned as the capitals ‘Best Buskers’ by Mayor Boris Johnson in 2015 and now the trio release their debut E.P, ‘Thoughts, Fears and Beers’.
A collection of 6 self-penned tracks, the E.P oozes with an insightful deluge of every day life. The deliberate and charming placement of the lyrics are met with a cascade of harmonies that find themselves partnered with string led beats, resulting in this E.P warming your insides like soul food. Glimpses of laid-back reggae vibes glint through on‘She Loves Me’, whilst a jazz influence appears on ‘For The Love’ as the brass blasts through, showing the varying influences that are captured in their creations.
With their infectious sounds, it’s no wonder that they caught the attention of numerous Londoners as they went about their daily commute, including some of the famous ones. Gary Linekar and XFM’s Phil Clifton have tipped the trio for big things while Emma Thompson, who fondly refers to the guys as “the dog’s b*&%ocks”, first became aware of The Tailormade as she heard them on the underground and stopped to chuck some money in their hat: “Days of Our Lives on YouTube is completely brilliant. I first saw them on the tube and now they’re on the other tube. I’m so happy.”
From playing to passers by and making a quick buck, to selling out their first show at North London’s infamous O2 Academy with fans that are queuing up to see them, The Tailormade continue their ascent, sharing with you their Thoughts, Fears and Beers.
