Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Hey hey VENTS! All fabulous here thank you! How have you lovely lot been?!
Can you talk to us more about your single “Vertebreak”?
Of course! Vertebreak is quite possibly the most catchy, pop-tastic tune we’ve ever written! It’s guaranteed to get stuck in your head and annoy you for a good while!
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
Louise: I wasn’t really blessed with having the best parents and this song was about an ongoing struggle I have with my Mum which came to a head recently. I’ve always found it fascinating how when you’re younger your parents are heroes but as you get older, for some people, you realise that somethings aren’t quite right! And with mine things really weren’t right at all! In typical Pretty Little Enemy fashion we took lyrics that could have been super depressing and shoved them on our most upbeat song!
Any plans to release a video to go along with the song?
Of course! Expect lots of outfit changes, balloons and bad acting!
The single comes off your new album Bitch PLEase! – what’s the story behind the title?
We wanted something snappy and sassy! It’s been 10 years of us making noises together in one form or another and it’s about time we said “Bitch Please! Sit the hell down, shut the hell up… And press play!”
How was the recording and writing process?
For ‘Bitch PLEase!’ this was actually done with our previous band member Dan. As usual, nothing was as simple as it should be! We weren’t putting as much time and love in to the band as we wanted to so after the recording process we had find a new guitarist to continue our journey. But on the whole recording Bitch PLEase! was amazing, we always have a good time with Ben Turner at Stage 2 Studios!
Would you call this a follow up or a departure from the previous band?
This is 100% a departure from Zoltar Speaks! Before there was too many conflicting influences which we never managed to blend well into a good, coherent style. Again, too many issues with people’s lives aside from the band which meant we could never get much done. Now the 4 of us are all on the same page, we’re living and breathing PLE and we spend pretty much all of our free time together… Maybe too much! We are the metal Abba.
Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
The usual… Happiness, sadness, love… Myles was actually names after Myles Kennedy!
Any plans to hit the road?
Of course! We have a full list of tour dates being announced soon! We cannot wait to party with everyone!
What else is happening next in Pretty Little Enemy’s world?
More recording which we are very excited about! More videos, a ton of spamming social media and making lots of lovely new friends!
