INTERVIEW: Jimmy Pinchak

-How would you classify your music?

As much as I would love to classify my music as straight blues, it really is a mixture of both blues and rock. My last album, Make it Better, was almost entirely rock. This new album is almost entirely blues.

-Who are some of your top 5 musical influences?

  1. Eric Clapton

  2. The Beatles

  3. Freddy King

  4. BB King

  5. Buddy Guy

-What do you want fans to take from your music?

I think blues represents pain on a few different scales. More importantly, it allows people to cope with their pain. If my music helps listeners identify and cope with their pain, I’m succeeding.

-What do you love and hate about the Music Business in your opinion?

Live music isn’t what it used to be, especially on the west coast. Most people don’t enjoy live music as much as they enjoy watching a movie. I think this has changed for the worse over the last few decades.

-What is the best concert you have been to?

Roger Waters’ “The Wall”, Los Angeles 2012.

-What do you like most about playing live?

The audience.

-How have you evolved as an artist or band over the last year?

I’ve become more focused on the blues.

-If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, get drunk with any band or artist (dead or alive) who would it be?

I would trade solos with Eric Clapton on stage playing Crossroads.

-What is next for you?

Encouraging more and more people to hear the new album while I continue to play live shows in NY!
