CD REVIEW: Life In Static by Larusso
By: Ryan Donnelly
From Salt Lake City comes the alternative/punk/pop sound of Larusso. Creating songs that sound better the louder you turn up the volume, their newest album release titled Fever is a catchy single reminiscent of the likes of both Hoobastank and Boys Night Out, and is set to turn some heads. Fever is a track with many levels of interesting sound and an accompanying video helps add some exciting visuals to an already exciting song. A great choice for the albums first single, and it will no doubt capture many new fans with its unique sound.
The second track The voice is not at all genre breaking, but more respectfully stays within the confines of the expected pop/punk anthem track that will no doubt become the next single. The song is simply a pleasure to listen to, and no doubt that everyone in the band gels well with each other and all are on the same creative page. Well produced and well executed, this is a great track through and through.
The third song on the track is more of what we have come to expect from the very talented Larusso. It is a faster paced song that offers the familiar great vocals and talented musicianship, and of course the high level production value. At this point it is clear that Larussowill have no trouble gaining an army of fans that will want to share this great music with others, like myself.
The final song I listened to is titled Collision Course, and it is more of the anthem-like style that can be found on the rest of the album titled Life In Static. The track is catchy, fun, single-worthy and written well, and although it may not be bringing anything new to the table by playing it expectedly safe, it is nice to see a band that knows who they are and simply give us great music.
If you like Hoobastank, Fall Out Boy, Boys Night Out, Paramore and the likes, then you will want to listen to this album the first chance you get.
