INTERVIEW: Podgy Figures

Hi Podgy, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I’m great thanks, just been busy working on my new material.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “The Hardest”?

My latest single the hardest is produced by Zeph Ellis , I wanted to start the year off with something hard but with substance and to show my lyrical ability

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

I wanted to put a message out there, if you are working hard in your job or hard at school or work towards something you are the hardest, I speak for those that don’t have a voice, those that are working hard, this should uplift them.

How was the film experience?

The filming experience was great, it was a two day shoot , the first day we were in Kent. It was a performance scene in a derelict building. We got a lot of great abstract shots. The second day was in Lewisham . We had 2 free runners that came down from the Midlands, It was a great experience to watch them, seeing it live, I respect the art more .

How was the recording and writing process?

Zeph Ellis came round to my studio (GingerBread Records Studios), we were just vibzing, throwing ideas around and he did what he does best, and the beat was finished. I came up with the hook and once that was done, the lines just kept coming before I knew it the verses were finished.

What was it like to work with Zeph Ellis and how did that relationship develop?

Its Great to work with Zeph Ellis, he is the most talented producer I have worked with, we met about 3 or 4 years ago and built a great relationship and have both seen each other grow as artists.

How much did he get to influence the album?

We have made a lot of songs. He has got a big influence when it comes to the production sound of the projects.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

I’m very excited about the new single, its fun, it’s got a lot of energy, very catchy. I can’t wait until you get a chance to here it.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

I haven’t got a release date but it’s coming real soon, the title of the song is ‘FIGURES LIKE THAT’

Any plans to hit the road?

I plan to hit everywhere

What else is happening next in Podgy Figures’ world?

More great songs, more great visuals, hope to inspire more people and to be inspired.

Watch here.
