AXS TV Celebrates the Legacy of Music Legend Dr. John March 20 at 8pE‏

Music legends gather to honor an icon, as AXS TV presents the broadcast premiere of THE MUSICAL MOJO OF DR. JOHN: A CELEBRATION OF MAC & HIS MUSIC—an all-star tribute to the genre-defying singer, songwriter, pianist, and six-time GRAMMYÒ winner Dr. John, whose trademark vocals powered such classics as “Right Place, Wrong Time,” “Somebody Changed The Lock,” and “St. James Infirmary,” among others—on Sunday, March 20, at 8pE/5pP. Originally filmed at the historic Saenger Theater in the French Quarter of Dr. John’s hometown, New Orleans, Louisiana, the two-hour event brings together the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s close friends, protégés, and collaborators, for an unforgettable evening celebrating his tremendous life, legacy, and influence in the music industry.

Appearing throughout the evening is an unprecedented roster of music heroes and Louisiana royalty, kicking off with the incomparable Bruce Springsteen, who gets the festivities started with a raucous rendition of Dr. John’s signature hit “Right Place, Wrong Time.” Other guests include John Fogerty; and performances by Dr. John, Aaron Neville, Charles Neville, Warren Haynes, as well as Mavis Staples, Terence Blanchard, Bill Kreutzmann, Irma Thomas, and many more.

Additionally, the guest performers are backed by an All-Star House band led by funk maestro Don Was on bass, Kenny Aronoff on drums; Chuck Leavell on keyboards; and featuring Brint Anderson and Brian Stoltz on guitars; Bobby Campo on trumpet; John Gros and Mark Mullins on trombone; Khris Royal on saxophone; and gospel trio The McCrary Sisters on backing vocals.
