Hi James, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
I am blessed can’t complain!
So when did you realize you wanted to be a producer?
As a kid of age 12 i knew I wanted to be in music in some form of fashion. At that time I didn’t know if that would have been being a musician or songwriter but entertainment was calling my name. By the age 17 I began professionally.
When you produced Yung Berg Electric Disco – did you expected that would somehow become kind of like your breakthrough?
Actually I really didn’t. That beat was something I played around with and sent off to different people. At the time Yung Berg started doing mix tapes called Twitter Music where he found producers online and let them submit music to him. I was one of those people and thats how the song came about. It gave me a small foot in the door to work with other artists.
You have produced artists like Truth Hurts who have previously worked with the likes of Dr. Dre – in cases like this do you tend to respect the style and approach done by Dre in this case or you go on a whole different direction?
Well I always respect the guys that came before me, but in this case it more so me and Truth coming together to do something fresh and something no one would expect from her.
How’s usually your recording process?
Im a inspirational person so when I have an idea its usually inspired by what I’m feeling or whats happening around me. I pour those into my masterpieces.
Do you try to exploit something in particular on each of your clients?
With anyone I work with I try to create something that hasn’t been done. We call it innovation.
Do you usually work with acts under a particular genre or you are not limited to any style?
I do all genre’s of music so I’m open to work with ALL.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Can you tell us more about From The Bottom Up?
