*AUDRA*: I’m doing great! Thanks for asking and thanks for taking the time to chat with me. I appreciate it a lot!
Lily: What was it like to open up for Panic! At the disco and Atlas Genius?
Audra: It was amazing. I’ve loved Panic! At The Disco for a long time so it was amazing to be on the same bill as them and Atlas Genius. The crowd was huge. First time we ever played for 5,000 people. It’s an experience I will remember for the rest of my life.
Lily: what is a day in the studio like between you and Pat Walsh? Do you have any rituals you do before you get to writing and preforming?
Audra: Honestly, I don’t see Pat much in the studio. Haha. We write all of our songs long before we get into the studio and practice them and play them live many, many times. We record every part separately, so the boys do their thing and I come in last with the vocals. The real question is what a day in the studio is like with our producer and engineer, Phil Mann. Those are the sessions you would want to be a fly on the wall for. I guess the only ritual is a lot of swearing when I mess up a part!
Lily: I really enjoyed your songs but I instantly fell in love with I Wanna Die, it has a very catchy appeal to it! Have you been approached to use it on a soundtrack for a movie or tv show yet?
Audra: No, not yet! But here’s hoping. We would love for that to happen. We have been told it has a catchy hook. We are open to any opportunities!
Lily: What inspires you the most and brings out your creativity?
Audra: Heartbreak mostly. Mine or someone else’s.Just the daily goings-on of love and loss.
Lily: if you had the chance to collaborate with any artist who would it be and why?
Audra: Freddie Mercury. I’m assuming you meant dead or alive. He is my inspiration for everything I do as a musician. His stage presence. His voice. His songwriting. All around one of the greatest ever to live.
Lily: When you are not in the studio or on stage what are some of your other interests or hobbies?
Audra: I like to Netflix and chill. Haha. But really just catching up on my shows, reading, and hanging out by the river in my backyard. And of course, spending quality time with family and friends I don’t get to see often because of our schedule.
Lily: What bands would you love to tour with that you haven’t had the opportunity to yet?
Audra:Foo Fighters. No Doubt. Joan Jett. These are all very powerful rock bands that we would fit perfectly with on a bill. But even on a bit of a smaller level, Panic! At The Disco would be a ton of fun!
Lily: what is something most people don’t know about you?
Audra:I do finances as a day job. Seriously. I run company’s books and forecast their financial futures.
Lily: if you were a superhero who would you be and why?
Audra: Superman. I am Clark Kent/Superman now. My day appearance and activities is Clark Kent and my stage appearance and stage presence is my Superman. Seriously, if I see someone on the street in my Clark Kent and they’ve seen us live, they won’t recognize me. It’s an amazing thing and I love it. I’m my own disguise!
Lily: Do you have any advice for any aspiring musicians?
Audra: Never give up. And always show up. Never give up on your dreams. There are so many people that quit before ever knowing if something is going to happen. Your big moment could be right around the corner. Keep pushing. And always show up because you never know who you are going to meet and if that person will change your life.
