Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Pretty good! It’s been busy, but in a good way. We’ve been working on new stuff that we’re really excited about sharing!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Staycation”?
“Staycation” is definitely one of my favorites off of the new EP! It’s the only real love song this time around and I’m really happy it came out the way it did. It’s just cool. It has an awesome vibe to it. The best place to write is on a road trip with the beat on loop! I remember I was with the girl that the song is about driving from Atlanta after the Midtown Music Festival. I wrote the first verse of the song while driving back to Orlando from Midtown Music Festival in Atlanta. Funny enough the first line in the 2nd verse is “Doing 80 down the 85…” That’s about the same drive… I just wanted to write a song that anyone in love or madly infatuated would get. It’s one of my favorites because it’s all about travelling and seeing this and seeing that and going there, but it’s also about doing nothing and being with that person you wanna do everything and nothing with.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
No one in event in particular. Just that feeling that you get with someone that means that much to you. I think everyone or most people have been through that before.
Any plans to release a new single to go along the video?
We want to shoot a video for every song off of the new EP. So it’s on the way!
The single comes off your new EP – any title in mind?
The title for our new EP is ‘95407’! It’s a combination of the area codes from my hometown in Sunrise, FL (954) and where I live now in Orlando, FL (407).
How was the recording and writing process?
It was really natural. I produced all the songs throughout the year and didn’t rush the writing the process. The songs got written as they came to me in my head. Most of them aren’t even really written down. I would recite each verse to myself throughout the day until I thought it was perfect. Then find time to record it. We got to do mixing and mastering with a really awesome engineer, so the process felt really complete.
How did you come up with the idea of blending different genres together?
Our sound comes from everything we hear and whatever sounds good what what’s being written at the time. Each of us listens to so much different music and follow so many different trends in music, it’s easy for things to come together. It’s from loving all music and not discriminating against anything that sounds good.
Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
The inspiration mainly came from me and all my friends talking about time. The right time to do this or the right time to go there. We all wanna go somewhere or do something extraordinary, but are surrounded by doubt. We all have really big plans and are still trying to figure out ways to accomplish them. So I spent most of the time writing the record with that feeling and this experience of trying to execute on one of those “big plans”. And it’s paying off! So I wanted more people who are having this conversation to hear “go for it”.
Any plans to hit the road?
Definitely! We’re working really hard to finish getting details on that and announcing the dates. We also are really hoping and trying to be a part of Warped Tour this year. That would be awesome for all of us, so we’re trying really hard to make that happen.
What else is happening next in Dear Tatiana’s world?
Releasing more music, playing more shows, and hoping to meet more people. We’re trying to start writing our full length record in the Fall so there’s much more to come from us.
