Today via a premiere with The Music Ninja <will be hyperlinked>, Sego, the Los Angeles-by-way-of-Provo duo of Spencer Peterson and Thomas Carroll, released a stream of their dynamic new record Once Was Lost Now Just Hanging Around. Due out on Dine Alone Records this Friday, Once Was Lost Now Just Hanging Around expands on the percolating beats, persistently spastic grooves and danceable jittery guitars and synths that caused their debut EPs Wicket Youth and Long Long Way From The Fringe to make waves across their native Los Angeles and the Internet.
Rather than premiering the record with the same old Soundcloud song-and-dance, the band collaborated with renowned motion designer Gustavo Torres (a.k.a Kidmograph) to create custom video loops for each track on the album. Kidmograph, who has found a cult following among the Tumblr art community and was recently the focus of a Creator’s Project feature for Vice, perfectly captured Sego’s blend of 90’s nostalgia, innovative arrangements and quirky layering for the series which you can check out in the album’s YouTube stream. The record will be available via all your favorite streaming services Friday, and in the meantime you can preorder it on iTunes.
