INTERVIEW: Triple

Hi Triple, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I’ve been great thank you just been working on new music while promoting my debut single ‘I Thought You Said’. Currently focusing on growing my audience.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “I Thought You Said”?

‘I Thought You Said’ is about a girl leaving her abusive boyfriend to be with me. I question her ex-boyfriend’s credibility as he stated that she would never leave him, but I ended up with her.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

There were several events that made me think of the topic of the song. Because in my area in particular my neighbors I could hear a lot of abusive domestic problems which I had to interpretative through my music.

How was the film experience?

The film experience was great because I was bringing to life what I see every day and making sure the point come across to viewers.

How was the recording and writing process?

I came across the instrumental online and I contacted the producer (Vybez Beats) and he sent me the wav file. Then I wrote the bars within a day and went to the studio the following day and finished off the track. The lyrics came easy to me as I was expressing my feelings of a situation I felt deeply about.

What was it like to work with Lloyd Hinshelwood and how did that relationship develop?

He is a great guy to work with plus he can produce instruments within minutes, which I found amazing. The relationship came about because of my manager; he was previously working with Lloyd on a different project and felt that Lloyds can bring something different to the table if he works with me on my future singles.

How much did he get to influence the record?

Well I made ‘I thought you said’ before I met Lloyd but I would say he has definitely showed me more insight about the music industry and the different sounds expanding my ears to various genres.

Does the single mean we can expect a new material, maybe a volume 2 for your Stay Calculating mix tape? How’s that coming along?

Definitely, I’ve been in studio working on a lot of new music. Currently I am focusing on releasing more singles also working on my forthcoming EP which will be out sometime next year but it’s likely there would be a ‘Stay Calculating volume 2’.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

I still have a few ideas in mind so I can’t give a specific name or release date but what I would say is to keep up to date on my social media (tripleupdow) and I’ll let you know.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yes I have few shows in the pipeline but at this current moment they’re not confirmed. But I feel great with the response I’m getting from my single and I just can’t wait to hit the roads.

What else is happening next in Triple’s world?

Watch out for my next single dropping out this summer. I’m actually shooting the video for it in May. And just a most more singles coming out, also working with Lloyd and various producers creating new sounds. Also growing my audience by doing shows, TV and radio. So you’ll definitely see a lot more of Triple in the coming years.
