Gipsy Royale To Release Debut Album On March 18, Andre Reyes Released Solo Effort On February 26‏

On February 26, 2016 Andre Reyes, formerly of Gipsy Kings and current member of Gipsy Royale, released his first ever solo album, Naci Gitano. The 11-track album was produced by Greg Wells (Katy Perry, Mika, One Republic) and was written and recorded entirely at music manager, Miles Copeland’s private home, Marouatte Castle, in France during one of his legendary songwriters’ retreats last spring. Wells also worked with Reyes and his brothers on their new project, Gipsy Royale. At The Heart Of It All is the band’s debut album and will be released on March 18, 2016. The 15-track album captures the true essence of Gipsy music that has taken the world by storm. Working with Wells and engineer Ian MacGregor, the band was encouraged to not hold back and recorded 18 songs, the best of which were chosen for this debut. Gipsy Royale has plans to tour the U.S. around the release of At The Heart Of It All. Tour dates to be announced shortly.

The story of Gipsy Royale is almost identical to the story of the Gipsy Kings as Reyes brothers, Andre, Pablo and Patchai were founding members of that band from 1978 until the end of 2014. Very much a family affair, the members of the Reyes family and extended family eventually morphed into the Gipsy Kings and took their music to worldwide success with its’ rumba flamenco style, mixing pop influences and traditional Romani melodies. After the original members of Gipsy Kings split in 2014, Andre, Pablo and Patchai went on to form Gipsy Royale and were joined by three of their sons, Tambo Reyes (son of Patchai), Thomas Reyes (son of Andre) and ‘petite’ Canute (son of Pablo). Several musicians of the Gipsy Kings backing band headed by Xavier Padilla also joined in to round out the group. The trio then secured long-time Police/Sting manager and music icon Miles Copeland as a manager who advised the newly formed group against a battle over the name Gipsy Kings, preferring to begin the new year with a new moniker and thus, Gipsy Royale began.

Musically, with such a membership, it is not surprising that the sound of Gipsy Royale is very true to the sound that made the Gipsy Kings successful in the first place. As Andre Reyes says, “we will remain true to our roots, that is who we are.” The 7 acoustic guitars with classic gipsy vocals and a super backing band gives Gipsy Royale a stunning sound and exciting stage presence enabling them to present a show even more powerful than the Gipsy Kings from which they started.
