Jordan Smith, The Voice Season 9 victor and the show’s best-selling artist, will release his full-length debut album Something Beautiful on Friday, March 18 via LightWorkers Media / Republic Records / Universal Music.
Jordan, the 22 year-old from Harlan, Kentucky, stands out as the highest-selling artist to ever emerge from the EMMY AWARD®-winning series The Voice. In less than six months, he sold over one million singles and made The Voice history by landing eight songs in the iTunes Top 10 in the US – the first artist from any season to hit the iTunes Top 10 every single week of the Live Rounds. Of the eight songs that went Top 10 on iTunes, six hit Top 3, and three captured #1 on all of iTunes. He is one of only two artists, alongside Cassadee Pope, to notch three #1’s during the show’s season.
The Something Beautiful pre-order is available now. Digital pre-order includes an instant download of the first single “Stand In The Light.” Fans who pre-order the album on Jordan’s website here will also receive an official autographed Jordan Smith poster. Listen to and share Jordan’s brand new original song, produced by Grammy and Oscar nominated Stephan Moccio, “Stand In The Light” here.
“When you hear Jordan Smith’s beautiful debut album Something Beautiful you will be transported.” said executive producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett. “These amazing song choices combined with his beautiful voice will take you on a heartfelt and hope filled emotional journey. It is our hope that you allow this special album from this extraordinary young man to wash over you and renew your spirit.”
“Stand In The Light” showcases Jordan’s powerhouse vocals with a thought-provoking verse and uplifting refrain. Throughout the album, his undeniable delivery and instantly recognizable range drive originals and covers produced by legends such as Grammy Award winning producer David Foster [Céline Dion, Michael Bublé, Josh Groban] and modern hit maker Stephan Moccio [The Weeknd, Ellie Goulding, Miley Cyrus].
“Every decade or so, a voice comes along that rises above the fray,” David Foster said. “That stands alone in its greatness, its uniqueness and the heart-breaking sound that comes so effortlessly and brings millions of people to their knees in the first few seconds. Jordan Smith is in rare air where few have ever been.”
In between finishing up the album, Jordan recently delivered emotional and energizing performances at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington D.C. Jetting to San Francisco shortly after, he gave a poignant rendition of “His Eye Is On The Sparrow” on BET’s Super Bowl Gospel Celebration, which aired before and after the big game. Last month, Jordan teamed with David Foster to give fans a breathtaking performance of “You Are So Beautiful” at the 2016 People’s Choice Awards. Jordan also gave a spectacular performance of the National Anthem at the NHL Winter Classic on New Year’s Day and at the NFL’s NFC Divisional Playoff Game.
Jordan Smith released a full-length album, Jordan Smith: The Complete Season 9 Collection, on iTunes one day after his win. Overnight, the album skyrocketed to the Top 5 on the iTunes Overall Album Chart and debuted on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart at #11 (US). His take on Queen’s “Somebody To Love” unseated Adele’s “Hello” from #1 on iTunes Overall Top Songs chart in a matter of hours, moving 164 thousand-plus copies first week and clinching #1 on the Billboard Digital Songs Chart. The following week his performance of “Mary Did You Know” also shot up to the #1 spot on iTunes and topped SoundScan’s Digital Songs Chart at #1, selling 161 thousand copies in the first week. “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” and “Hallelujah” went #1 on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs Chart, and he became “the first artist to replace himself at #1 on the chart.” Jordan also holds the record on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs Chart for “the first act to own both the #1 and #2 titles concurrently” with “Mary Did You Know” and “Hallelujah”.
