Game Of Thrones Season 6 Predictions

As George RR Martin officially missed his deadline for completing the 6th A Song of Ice and Fire book, The Winds of Winter, on December 31st 2015, we now know for certain that the Game of Thrones TV show will be getting ahead of the books. This of course means we have absolutely no idea what is coming, and for the first time in the show’s five season history, fans of the books are just as involved in guessing the next events in the saga of Westeros as fans of the HBO show!

So, given that everything is complete guesswork based on clues in the cast lists and filming locations, and of course on what we’d really like to see, here are some predictions for season six. This contains spoilers for the previous seasons and books.

Jon Snow Revived

When we left season five, things were not looking good for Jon Snow. His stabbing also happened in the end of the fourth book, but because the fifth book focused on events in other locations, readers are also still none the wiser as to what happened next at the Wall. Given that Kit Harington who plays Jon Snow has been spotted in locations where filming has been taking place for season six, it is safe to assume the actor will be on screen, but of course, Charles Dance returned to play the corpse of his very dead character Tywin Lannister, so this alone doesn’t assure Jon Snow will be alive. However, the most popular theories around what will happen to him center around the fact Melissandre is also at the Wall, and we know from previous scenes in the books and show that followers of her faith can perform resurrections.

Freed From His Oath?

If Jon Snow is resurrected, this is interesting because by dying, his ‘watch’ with the Night’s Watch could be seen to have ended, leaving revived Jon free to pursue the things a black brother cannot, like love, titles – or even a throne. This all ties in to theories many people hold to about Jon Snow’s parentage, and whether he may even be a legitimate contender for the iron throne. With two books and two or three seasons left to the story’s conclusion, if this is part of the end game, things will have to start being put in motion in season six, surely?

Some of the filming locations and new characters cast for in season 6 have suggested there could well be some flashbacks in the season that reveal things many fans have been waiting a long time to see, like who Jon Snow’s mother is. It is thought that we may get to see Ned Stark once more in a younger form as all this is explained. Whether the famous R+L theory is confirmed, and whether it is confirmed only to the viewer or to characters in the show, will be one of the biggest questions around season 6.

Season six of Game of Thrones is likely to be even more anticipated and talked about than previous seasons, so make sure you have the best in Direct TV bundles so you can watch it as soon as it is aired on HBO!
