Coming from a team consisting of Allan Lavell (Glitch Wizard), Dean Grenier (Art Director for The Glitch Mob) and Justin Boreta (The Glitch Mob), Hyperspektiv is a real-time video & photo app that uses an intuitive, touch-based approach allowing the user to dive right into visual effects. Hyperspektiv produces high quality results that would normally require powerful software and years of experience, with just an iPhone. This kind of accessibility to complex editing has only become possible recently, as smartphones are just starting to gain enough processor power to do for video what has already happened for photo: lower the barriers to entry.
“The idea was to make an app that was incredibly simple to use, yet yielded deep, stunning results,” says Boreta. “There’s something magical about handing someone a device and letting them instantly create art, or see the world a little differently. We want everyone from children to professional artists to enjoy using the app. One of the coolest things about Hyperspektiv,” says Grenier “is there are so many ways you can use it — make cool music videos, pimp out your Instagram feed, use for VJ visuals, or take next level selfies. Plus it’s immediate, you can see and record the effects in real-time like looking through some crazy kaleidoscope.”
Justin Boreta’s last foray into the world of apps was the highly successful Mirrorgram which had 166,000+ users and landed at #1 photo app in its first week in the App Store. Allan Lavell’s app Glitch Wizard was featured in the “Best New Apps” section of the US and Canadian app stores, and hit the top 10 in Photo & Video in Canada.
Hyperspektiv is now available exclusively on the App Store and is compatible with iPhone 5s, 6, 6 Plus, 6s and 6s Plus running iOS 9.1.
