Italian heavyweight DJ and producer Yuga has had a marvellous 2016, putting his signature on three top-notch projects: ‘You Got The Love’ featuring the legendary Candi Staton, ‘Get On It’ and his latest wonder, ‘It’s You’, in collaboration with rising star ITSPAGE.

Reaching Beatport charts on multiple occasions, Yuga is now continuing his successful run with his latest Future House banger, ‘It’s You’, released on the 21st of December, 2015. We’ve had the pleasure to sit down with Yuga and go through the workings behind his fresh production and his plans for the future.

Hi Yuga, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Thanks guys, I am having a ball thanks ! Travelling a lot between Rome and London from a studio to another and I am actually on the Top 10 Beatport House Chart with ‘Get On It’, a track released by Kaisen Records on the 14th of December.

Can you tell us more about the story behind your track ‘It´s You’?

Yes, it is a powerful Future House tune exactly what we were looking for and that was the initial goal. We needed some banger with a clubby groove keeping a Future House hat, so I am really happy with the result and now we also hit the House Chart on Beatport (#86).

Did any event in particular inspire the song?

This summer after my release with Candi Staton ‘You got the love’ our demo inbox at Kaisen Records was full of interesting material and something was emerging, it was ITSPAGE with a couple of demos, including a “gran father” version of “It’s you”

How was the recording and writing process?

Pretty cool and there were a lot of things to fix here and there especially at the last stages as we wanted the track to be (almost) perfect.

What was it like to work with ITSPAGE and how did that relationship develop?

ITSPAGE is a fantastic, very talented artist, although in his early 20’s he has knowledge and character to sell. He puts his own passion and love in what he does and you can clearly see the result. For 2016 he is definitely an artist to watch out for and follow.

What were you seeking at the moment that you eventually found on him?

A new point of view, a fresh mind set with different influences and background musically speaking and behind. He is a young producer, I am an old one (J) diversity is important when you are in the phase of building something new.

When you do a collaboration with someone from an up and coming artist to a legend – what do you usually look for?

I think is a matter of “sharing”, sharing personal and professional background, learn something new and release part of your knowledge towards the collaboration. The collaboration with ITSPAGE is the perfect example of my willingness to share and learn from everyone – legend or up and coming artist.

Would you continue releasing this standalone remixes throughout the next year or can we expect a new album – how´s that coming along?

There is something in the air, but it’s still a concept so I will share it with you later. Of course I will keep working with ITSPAGE and I have another big collaboration with Mark URSA for 2016, something really BIG.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

For 2016 the idea is to keep focusing on quality so I don’t have a fixed number of tracks to release, but quality is key.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yes, I will start in January from Prague, February I will be in Rome and Ukraine, then I will be closing the mini tour in Russia in spring.

What else is happening next in Yuga´s world?

I am trying to stop smoking… J

Thanks VENTS friends for having me here today.
