PHOENIX (@wearephoenix) Release Christmas Song Today!‏

Today, Phoenix will release their first-ever Christmas single, “Alone on Christmas Day,” via Glassnote Records.  The song is a cover of a long-lost Beach Boys holiday track from 1979 that was never formally released.

Phoenix’s version features a little help from Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, former “Letterman” musical director Paul Shaffer, and New York Dolls’ David Johansen, and appears in the Netflix original holiday special, A Very Murray Christmas, directed by Sofia Coppola.  In addition to the digital release, a limited edition 7″ of the song will be available at all independent music retailers nationwide.

Yesterday, the band sat down for an exclusive interview with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe to talk about the song for the first time.  Listen to what they had to say about it HERE.

All proceeds from the song will benefit UNICEF upon its release.
