WHO’S PROFESOR IYOHA & FROMDIROOTS BAND?

Professor Iyoha, born in Nigeria  in 1973  as Prince Kennedy Iyoha, is a Reggae musician based in Spain. His passion for classics rock, soul and traditional folk music, influenced his career, and has been participating since age 13 in several projects, developing his own style when he recorded his first album entitled “From di blue”.Profesor Iyoha, moved to Spain in 1998, because of the political instability in his country and exiled in the capital of Asturias. He began working as a welding and metal fabrication in the Ria of Aviles shipyard. An accident at work forced him to abandon the activity and started his own entrepreneur activities, managing his own company Ebuny Communications S.L, and also help establish the organisation, African Community resident in Spain in 2003. The innate musical quality of the artist and his desire to express himself through melody and rhythm inspired him to resume his musical activity with the album ‘Goodmorning África’ in 2010; with African rhythms,  bringing  into reality his musical project, after a hard period of adaptation and socio-cultural activity. Integrating both on stage, singing and dancing themes of love, justice, peace and solidarity.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN THE MUSIC SCENE AND PUT TOGETHER THIS BAND?
Before adventuring into the spectacular word of the music industry, i tried contacting EMI Music Spain, hence i had contract with EMI Nigeria. however i was  informed they cant involve in my relations with Emi Nigeria. Then i tried joining some local bands after work, with the objective to try and learn the Spanish guitar, later i  enrolled in the Oviedo
municipal music school for one season.

I started putting together “Fromdiroots” in late 2008 with the idea of creating a rock reggae band, as an expression of  multiculturalism  that is committed to the diverse realities of the world. The members integrated to the band  have a wide curriculum with regard to training and experience in their musical career, having participated in  multiple orchestras formerly. Since then, “FromdiRoots” sound has evolved, as can be seen in our latest work “Boomerang”.. We have also incorporated new members, highlighting; Juan Pla: recognised bassist in the musical scope of reggae rock, jazz. He has previously played with important musicians and bands within the national and International scope. We also have  saxophonist, clarinetist and flutist from Cuban, Carlos Montenegro. Who is  an  expert interpreter of these instruments, He  brings along his touch of distinction.

Its answer was classic  Prince Kennedy  “It don’t really matter”. To everyone that can appreciate my music.  The other writers paused with a perplexed look and ask him to explain. Prince Kennedy. Music is supposed to be an instrument to reaching  and advocating on behalf of the people.
