American four-piece RUSSO are on the fast track to becoming one of the most exciting bands to emerge in 2018. Their sound, a refreshing blend of ska-pop and rock, coupled with their sweat-infused, high-energy live performances, critics are quick to compare this California based band to the likes of No Doubt, Blondie and The Clash.
Today, RUSSO released their follow-up track and stellar video titled “Ghost.” Directed by Hamish Stephenson and shot during their North American tour this spring, “Ghost” is described by the band as “an emotional banger that deals with the complexities of being in a relationship with someone who has become a shell of themselves, a ghost,” and serves as the perfect taster of what’s to come from their forthcoming debut EP “House With A Pool” which drops worldwide on July 13.
On June 30, the band will be performing live on the main stage at Vestal Village Festival at the Bolsa Chica State Beach in California, then in July – in continued support of their debut EP release – they will be making stops at the Casbah in San Diego and Constellation Room in Santa Ana (supporting Opia), then performing live in their hometown of Los Angeles for KCRW’s School Night at Bardot on July 16. Earlier this spring, the band debuted their debut single and accompanying video for “Lonely.” Chock-full of energy and attitude, this rowdy rock-infused anthem was described as a “high-energy, head-banging track loaded with sass and Cailin’s bewitching vocals” by Harper’s Bazaar and was shot in Downtown Los Angeles by director Hamish Stephenson.
Formed in Los Angeles in 2018, Russo consists of singer/songwriter Cailin Russo on lead vocals, Tyler McCarthy on guitar, Hayley Brownell on drums and backing vocals and Sean Ritchie on bass. The band recently supported esteemed singer, songwriter Jessie Ware and as well as American singer and actress Madison Beer.
Raised in California front-woman Cailin Russo was introduced to rock at an early age by her father Scott Russo, the lead-singer of rock-band Unwritten Law. With influences ranging from The Smiths to Violet Femmes, Sublime to Bob Marley and the Gorillaz, the band, are also hugely inspired by everyone from the likes of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Nirvana,No Doubt, to The Strokes, Pink Floyd, David Byrne, Oasis and Led Zeppelin.
Be sure to catch Cailin, Tyler, Hayley and Sean aka RUSSO on the road this summer, as they gear up for the release of their debut project, “A House With A Pool” out worldwide on July 13.
