INTERVIEW: Evan Michael Green

Hi Evan, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I’ve been great, adjusting to my new life in LA and staying as busy as possible.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Wake Up Mary Please”?

I would love to.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

During that time in December 2015, I had a close friend who was in a bad relationship with someone who was obviously cheating on her which led to me writing down my thoughts on both sides of things. Ironically enough, the melody and chords came to me in a dream one night and the chorus was written before I woke up the next morning.

How was the film experience?

It was very last minute. My roommate at the time had moved out suddenly leaving an empty room in our apartment. So in one night, I took the space to create the set of the video with some red paint. There was also a lot of smoke in the room from a smoke machine that we left running too much so some of the shots where my eyes were closed were from my eyes burning. Overall it was a pretty wild shoot, and we had to cover everything over the next day so I would stay out of trouble with the landlord.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

I’ve finished my next project in entirety and now we’re in the process of rolling it out over the next couple months. I’m excited to share with my fans the next chapter of my growth as an artist.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

No solid dates yet but I can confirm the title “All the Things That I Am” sometime this summer.

Any plans to hit the road?

I’m currently planning a tour for late summer that will be my first as a solo artist. I’m nervous as hell but also looking forward to bringing this latest project to life with live instrumentation.

What else is happening next in Evan Michael Green’s world?

Much to my loving grandmother’s disapproval, I plan on getting more tattoos, a motorcycle, and growing out my hair even more. In July, I’m breaking ground on my next follow up project. A lot of twists and turns with no breaks. See what I did there?
