INTERVIEW: Sirus Hood

Hi Sirus, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hey! Thank you so much for having me. I’ve been very busy but I’m great.

So how are you preparing for your next tour in the states?

First off I try to eat very well, organic food, instead of my usual favorite pizzas and burgers. I also do a lot of cycling in Paris and take daily natural treatments like ginseng, royal jelly and other herbs to be more energized. And after that, I’m ready for some jet lags.

I’m also searching for the best tracks to play and I’m preparing sick playlists. I’m working on new tracks, and finishing my EP with Sacha Robotti for the tour.

This ain’t your first time there – what new things can fans expect?

I think fans should come open minded and ready to discover new things including my next releases, and some projects that I’m testing out instead of my big hits.

Do you tend to take a different approach when you are touring oversea than when you are playing in local venues?

Yes, I have a different approach for each part of the planet. For example, I will play more underground in the UK, and I will play more energetic in Brazil. In the US, I think it’s a mix of both, depending on the city and the culture of the crowd.

What would you say makes Paris EDM music so differently to others – are you always looking to create something unique?

Paris is famous for being the source of the French Touch (Daft Punk, DJ Mehdi, Didier, Sinclair etc..), which greatly inspired me as it inspired a lot of international artists. The Parisian scene is very open minded but it differentiates itself because it is classy and funky. I always try to make something unique yes, I may not have a signature sound, but I try for each new project to be original and unique.

What have you learned from big experiences as performing on huge festivals that you are putting in action in your career?

Never be too confident, because something can always happen, always stay focused and calm. I’ve learned that I shouldn’t hesitate to spread out good energy. Your vibe attracts your tribe.

You are bringing Sacha Robotti with you – how did he come on board?

My American agent Chad introduced us, and said that it would be a good idea to tour together since we are both Dirtybird artists and that we complete each other in a way. (We also both speak French so that’s a plus). He came to Paris at my house and we did a couple of tracks. Now we are releasing an EP together for this tour, and we became good friends.

Any plans on doing some live collaborations?

Besides my EP with Sacha I don’t have confirmed collabs yet, but my latest one is with Roland Clark, for my track called “I’m House” released on Dirtybird.

What else is happening next in Sirus Hood’s world?

I will be touring all around the world this year: Brazil, South Africa, Australia, whole Europe. I will release end of March a massive track on Ki Creighton’s label “Under no Illusion”, I can’t wait for everyone to discover it, I’m very proud of this one.

I will also release a great EP end of April on Criminal Hype. And many projects are still in progress. I definitely hope to release more tracks on Dirtybird, and new labels. Stay tuned!
