PREMIERE: Bella Loka Release New Music Video For “We Are Young”

Wrapping up our always entertaining premiere week, we got once again VENTS Alumni Bella Loka who are back with their video for the catchy, upbeat single “We Are Young.”

Inspired by artists like Bjork, David Bowie, M83 (the duo’s label mate Kaela Sinclair as the group’s new vocalist/keyboardist), CHVRCHES, and The xx, Tea and David met while in college where they later collaborated on David’s university project that involved covering Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb,” which earned an A. They soon became flat mates and have made music together ever since. In 2010, the duo was a part of Bristol-based four-piece alternative indie-rock band The New Root, but Tea and David have since set off to test the indie-electronic waters.

Tea, the duo’s talented vocalist, is also an independent film-maker and video artist, and is responsible for creating all of their music videos from concept to post-production. Each of BELLA LOKA’s dynamic live performances is regularly enhanced with visual projections designed by Tea and performances of her poetry alongside the songs. Norwegian pop singer Line Mari, who also recorded at Abbey Road, borrowed Tea’s creative mind to construct a documentary that charted the creation of their album titled “The Only Road Band.” Coming from an alternative indie-rock background, the two-piece outfit is “inspired by music and art that deals with weighty and interesting subject matter and likes to break the rules” (House in the Sand). “Our songs spring from an appreciation of delving deep, but we have always loved the simplicity of a great hook, beat and melody,” the combination of the two being the perfect recipe for the duo’s unique brand of pop music.
