Also up for EMMY consideration this year is Craig Wedren’s outstanding overall score for Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp in the ‘Outstanding Music Composition For A Series’ category, which he collaborated on with composer Jefferson Friedman. With music playing such an integral role in the storyline of Wet Hot American Summer, Wedren’s compositions had to act as a separate character in and of itself, helping to elevate each episode as it moved from scene to scene. In addition to composing the series’ background music, Wedren also created original songs for each of the characters to perform on screen for the shows musical ‘Electro/City.’ The result was a collection of material that sounded like could have been genuine classic hits during their time.

Netflix’s 2015 series Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp features original cast members i.e. Paul Rudd, Michael Showalter, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, Janeane Garofalo, etc. and brings back the show’s original composer and songwriter, Craig Wedren. Wedren scored the film and the songs “Wet Hot American Summer” as well as “Higher and Higher” with Theodore Shapiro, and has also scored/written songs for the series. Wedren, who was also in avant-indie rock band Shudder To Think, is also behind the scores for major feature films including Wanderlust, Role Models, School of Rock, and more.
