INTERVIEW: Izzy Flynn

Hi Izzy, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hello VENTS! Thanks for having me! I’ve been well thank you, busy writing tunes for the EP and album.

Can you talk to us more about your single ‘Medicine’?

‘Medicine’ explores rich, and relatively dark harmony. The bass line is melodic and holds the tune together.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Good question, yes, we have been plotting another dark, artistic, seductive video, all will be revealed soon. The video for one of my next singles ‘Faith’ will be the first video to be released. There are so many amazing artistic/creative producers/designers etc working on this.

How was the recording and writing process?

Interesting; I often sit and feel around for a set of chords/moods, then add melody and lyrics. I record and listen back to select the best ideas.

What led you to write a single about addictions?

I’m talking about addiction from different angles, including people/drugs being seductive. Questioning our decisions of who and what is ‘good’ for us.

What aspects of this illness would you be tackling down on this record?

‘Medicine’ highlights addiction of all kinds from a number of different angles; seduction, destruction, sensation. The listener is allowed their own thoughts and associations to the lyrics.

How’s your new EP coming along?

Good thanks, watch out for ‘Gracious’ and ‘Faith’ plus music video coming very soon!

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

You’ll be hearing singles released this month and next, so keep your eyes peeled!

Any plans to hit the road?

Yea, i’ve got some great gigs lined up including London Hat week where I will be wearing some extravagant designs by Millinery artists including Monique Lee Hylands-White.

What else is happening next in Izzy Flynn’s world?

Continuing working on the EP/Album and creating some good tunes for your ears. I’m also doing some painting/drawing which is another love of mine, similarly to writing music, it can be quite meditative.
