SINGLE REVIEW: Choreographic by Rachael Sage

Light, soaring and uplifting songs of Choreographic by Rachael Sage are extremely artistic, so that you almost see the singer dancing in front of you, wearing different gowns and costumes, doing pirouettes and turning somersault and just moving with a sweep, causing the creeps all over your body, – you may be sure, this talented to the backbone woman can do all this.

The name of the album couldn’t have been more matchable to the set of the songs, for each tune makes you a show-goer in a huge auditorium of a beautiful theater, where a bright, colourful performance playing out on the stage, – it’s a breath-taking Choreographic production. The full orchestra, accompanying the show, makes it special and unique.

Rachael Sage has a dancing background, that is why her new album feels like a harmonious and logical creation. When she was a teenager, she threw her heart into her first love, dance, at the School of American Ballet.

She started playing piano by ear soon after she was put in a pre-ballet class by her mom. She was about two and a half years at that time, but it was obvious already, that music and dance would become the girl’s ways of expressing herself and perceiving the world. And something more…

Chamber-pop sophisticated instrumentals, blended with folk and rock, wrapping original emotional melodies around, and Rachael’s rich textural voice, transfusing the whole broad spectrum of her emotions, act as the singer-songwriter’s carte-de-visite. Her deeply feeling, alive to all existence nature allows her to write poetical, lyrical and affecting to tears songs. The tunes inspire and raise your soul.

Self-taught, but not amateur she is; full of love and acceptance, yet all-sufficient and with an attitude; smooth, yet mould-breaking; dreamy, yet earthly, – her songs are.

The message that Rachael Sage puts across through her songs is freedom, the absolute freedom of the body and soul, that we all have come here, on Earth, to express and share. It is a wonderful conversation of the artist with the listener; soft encouraging hand, helping you let go and dream big, be who you are, hearing that boxed in inner voice of yours, that keeps repeating, in spite of all your attempts to mute it, that you were born to fly and experience this miraculous sensation of hovering through space and time, unveiling the unknown possibilities and resources, which are hidden in you. And it reaches out perfectly well, for one can always feel, when a musician is sinere in what they are doing, and their works are truly a labour of love. Then every sound produced by the artist resonates with the deepest heart-strings of those, who luckily come in touch with this magic.

Absolutely special and unique piece of art, Choreographic, shook me through and through, made me reflect upon my life, smile and cry. I would love to express my deep appreciation to Rachael Sage for her incredible music, what she has done to me feels pretty much life-changing.
