Salt Lake City born, LA based singer-songwriter McKail Seely has just released the video for her current single “Last One.” The video premiered this week via Elmore Magazine. Fans can watch the video here.
“Last One” is featured on McKail’s most recent release, the compelling “Ride of Life” EP, which was released in late 2015. McKail recently talked about the emotional backstory of the track: “Though the relationship I was in at the time was unhealthy, I didn’t seem to know how much it was truly affecting me,” said Seely. “One night I brought out my guitar and started to strum as usual. I remember coming up with the riff at the beginning of the song which seemed to resemble an Irish folk song that I once heard. With Irish in my blood, I liked the idea of creating a song that felted connected to my heritage. As I began to play chords that were within that riff, the song began to write itself.”

In 2012, McKail left her hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah and decided to make the final step necessary to fully pursue her craft. McKail moved to Hollywood, California and soon began studying at Musician’s Institute where she refined both her songwriting and guitar playing. Since arriving in Los Angeles, McKail has played at countless venues in Los Angeles (including the singer-songwriter staple Hotel Cafe) and has teamed up with many talented musicians from all walks of life; including the legendary Leon Russell who she opened up for at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills in August of 2015.
In September of 2015, McKail released the stunning and incredibly mature four song EP “Ride of Life,” which she recorded in Chicago with producer Zak Fox Jablow. The record showcases McKail’s incredible growth as a songwriter since moving to Los Angeles only four years ago. Songs like “Grace” and “Ride of Life” have a wonderful confessional tone, while standout track “Last One” weaves a tale of an unhealthy relationship while channeling the sounds of McKail’s Irish ancestry.
With the release of “Ride of Life” under her belt, and songs that speak to the core of human emotion and truth in spades, McKail Seely is ready for the road ahead. “I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds,” says Seely, “I’ll be touring this June and recording a new project that will be released by the beginning of next year that will really showcase where I’ve been musically, and more importantly, where I’m headed.”
McKail has also announced a string of tour dates for this June. The dates are as follows:
