INTERVIEW: Turncoat

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hey guys, thanks for having us! We’ve been doing great. On the road with Grim state right now doing the east coast and down south to her having the time of our lives.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Pushing Through”?

Panthers maybe one of our older songs and definitely one that we held onto for as long as we could before releasing it as far as lyrical content it is definitely one of the most passionate and meaningful songs that are whole ep

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

Pushing through was inspired while I spent several months living out of a back pack, couch surfing with no money and no job.

The song is meant to remind anyone person in that position to keep your head down and your eyes up. The way others see you does not define you. What defines you is the fire in you, the drive you have to make something of yourself and that home and happiness are all within. -Jim

Any plans to release a video for the single?

We are releasing a music video in the next week or so for a brand new song  and the first track off our ep “the friends you need”.

The single comes off your new self-titled album – why naming the album after the band instead of a track or some other creative phrase or name?

We didn’t decide on any song in particular to name the album because no one song could convey exactly what we wanted to say with this release. Our name means alot to us in so many ways album just really portrayed exactly what we wanted tonsay.

How was the recording and writing process?

Over all super easy really. We all came together and just started spitting out ideas that seemed to flow so well. Recording was a breeze thanks to our good friend and producer Matt Dalton.

What was it like to work with Matt Dalton and how did that relationship develop?

Working with Matt is a dream. He makes everything so easy and really isn’t afraid to let us know what’s what with our songs. If something seems off he really helped us to see if we could do it better. He is hands down one of our best friends and our favorite person to work with.

How much did he get to influence the album?

Vocally he had a big hand in coaching us to push everything to be better. He really had us dig into the music and break everything down to see exactly what we were working qith. As far as my guitar work , Matt really made me dig to do the best I could -keith

How has your journey have influence this record?

Our EP portrays everyday struggles and hardships that all of us have experienced. We blended together all of our ideas cognitively to have exactly what we want to say, to be heard with no frills and no bullshit.

How are you preparing for your upcoming tour?

We have alot of things in the works for the rest of the year as well as we’re out on the road for two weeks with our good friends Grim state. These guys are alot of fun and really kill.it every night with us.

What are you looking forward the most?

We’re really looking g forward to seeing how people react to this ep. We pushed the track Growing up for the last year and had a really good reception. we can’t wait to see how people react to the rest of the ep.

What can fans expect?

Expect us to be on the road pushing even harder than before. We have a new music video coming out as well as some extensive tours coming up. Who knows maybe next year we will be playing outside of the state’s 😉
