Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
We’ve been good thanks! We were all out together at a gig last night so feeling pretty hungover. Other than that, great!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Animalistic”?
This is our debut single and we’re so very excited to share it with you and your readers! It’s gritty electro pop, loads of synths, weird noises and vocal harmonies galore :).
We are pretty happy with the reaction it has gained so far.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
‘Animalistic’ is about letting go and being yourself. Being adventurous, not safe. If you want to be animalistic, DO IT, if you want to be different and follow your own path, DO IT!
It seems that sometimes people want you to have the same life goals as them and unless you follow the same pattern, “you need to be tamed…”
We dislike the monotony of a daily work routine. Very much.
We’re here to rebel against that. We’re here to be fierce and follow our dreams. No matter what.
How was the filming experience?
It was very exciting making our first music video! We worked with the very talented Flashlight Films (Little Comets) who brought our ideas to life. It was pretty cold underground in the tunnel mind! There was water dripping from the roof of the tunnel all of the time, so it was difficult to keep a straight face as the cameras were rolling 🙂
As well as the official ‘Animalistic’ video, we have also recorded a more intimate, live version! The track, ‘Animalistic [Version 2]’ is now available to pre-order on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/animalistic-single/id1078369150
By the way, we have been known to give tracks away for free if you sign up to our mailing list…!!

How was the recording and writing process?
‘Animalistic’ has actually been around for quite a while and we have been lucky enough to collaborate on this record with a number of talented people, such as Rob Davis (Kylie Minogue), Martyn Forslund (Hurts) and John Martindale (SHIELDS).
The track has evolved so much since we wrote it originally and has taken on such a new sound. We are really happy with the final recording – it has attitude and a thought process attached to it that we wanted to convey.
In what way has your previous musical background influenced this new project?
We have all been in previous bands where we were able to develop our songwriting and playing skills.
We have always been drawn towards the electronic style of playing. The depth of a bass synth and the subtlety of a real piano. Throw some gritty sounds on top, energetic live drums and vocal harmonies galore and you’re on the right path as to what we’re about.
How’s your new album coming along?
Well we’ve been in the studio working solidly for the last 4 months writing and finishing off the tracks for our first 2 EP’s. We’ve finally finished enough tracks now so we’re really happy with the overall sound, it’s exactly what we were looking for!
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Title, not a clue!! Perhaps your readers could help us?? 🙂 (best suggestion wins a prize from us!!) In relation to a release date, we have a plan that we are following quite strictly at the moment so there will be a few more singles dropping before our first EP! We’re currently working behind the scenes on more music videos so keep an eye on our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/talkliketigers for more news!
Does your first single set the tone for this album?
Synths and samples, with a touch of darkness and vocal harmonies run throughout our music. We find that gritty sounds are a good contrast to the vocals. The tone changes depending upon the song and what the song is about, although our overall style is gritty electro pop!
Any plans to hit the road?
Definitely! Touring is such an integral part to being a hard-working band so we absolutely can’t wait to get out and perform in new places! Gigging has to be up there as possibly our favourite thing to do. That and the constant daydream that we all have about quitting our day jobs…(!) – let’s hope they don’t read this.
